Resident/Graduate Student Award
:

Candidate Qualifications: To be eligible, candidates must have completed their research under one of the following conditions: 1) while in training for qualification to sit the ACVCP exam; 2) as a resident/graduate student while being mentored by an ACVCP diplomate; or 3) as student member of AAVPT while in a graduate program under the guidance of an AAVPT Fellow.

To be Considered: Candidates must present an abstract (poster/oral) of their research at either the AAVPT Biennial Symposium or the ACVCP Annual Meeting (held in conjunction with the ACVIM Annual Forum). The abstract must be submitted BEFORE the candidate has become certified as a Diplomate of ACVCP or, in the case of a graduate student, before the graduate degree is awarded. A call for submission of abstracts and nominations will be announced prior to the Forum or the Symposium by the Chair of the ACVCP Scientific Program Committee and by the Chair of the AAVPT Awards Committee.

Nomination Material: The following documents shall be submitted in support of a nomination:

-  A letter from the nominee’s mentor or advisor confirming candidate’s eligibility to receive the award.

-  A copy of the abstract that will be presented at either the Forum or the Symposium. Given that for the AAVPT Biennial Symposium all the abstracts are forwarded to the awards committee chair, the latter must be notified at the time an abstract is submitted that the abstract is being submitted for consideration for the award.

Submission deadline: All nomination materials should be submitted by April 15th of the year when the ACVCP Annual Meeting or AAVPT Biennial Symposium take place. Acceptance of abstracts not meeting the submission deadline will be subject to the discretion of the ACVCP Chair of the Scientific Program Committee and the Chair of the AAVPT Awards Committee, who will make a judgment regarding the existence of compelling extenuating circumstances.
