Join Us in Fort Collins, CO for the AAVPT Biennial

Posted By AAVPT Admin, Tuesday, March 10, 2015

On behalf of the organizing committee, I am excited to announce that Temple Grandin will be the keynote speaker at the 19th Biennial symposium of the AAVPT to be held May 17 – 20 2015 in beautiful Fort Collins, Colorado. Dr. Grandin is an internationally renowned speaker and champion of food animal welfare, who has used insights from her autism to dramatically improve the livestock industry. Her keynote address will be an inspiring contribution to the biennial, for which the theme this year is Soaring to New Heights – Aiming for Excellence in Veterinary Pharmacology.

The AAVPT is committed to promoting education and scientific advancement in veterinary pharmacology to promote health and well-being in both animals and humans. Our scientific sessions reflect this focus by addressing three hot topics in veterinary pharmacology today, with nationally and internationally renowned speakers from Colorado State University, Iowa State University and Kansas State University:

·      Analgesia and Pain Management in Food Producing Animals

·      Antimicrobial Resistance

·      Oncology in Veterinary Medicine

There will also be sessions dedicated to the issue of compounding in veterinary medicine, with speakers from both academia and the veterinary pharmaceutical industry, updates about AAVPT involvement in veterinary pharmacology education, evidence based medicine and the United States Pharmacopoeia, and an opportunity for graduate students to showcase their research at the poster session.

As always, the biennial symposium is a unique networking opportunity for academics, regulators in the animal health arena, experts from the veterinary pharmaceutical industry, and anyone interested in veterinary pharmacology. There will be a formal banquet and awards ceremony to recognize members who have made significant contributions to our academy. There will also be many opportunities for informal interactions and socializing. The breathtaking mountains, beautiful natural surroundings, and diverse cultural and entertainment attractions in Fort Collins offer a beautiful backdrop for a stimulating and invigorating symposium. Hope to see you there!

Visit our website for more information regarding awards, abstract submission and to register. Registration costs $650 for AAVPT members and $750 for non-members. Early Bird registration ends March 31st! Become a member today ($35/year) to qualify for the $100 member registration discount. The program has also been submitted (but not yet approved) for 15 hours of veterinary professional CE credit from RACE.
